While watching television today, I came across a show about a man who had been in a coma for 19 years and then woke up. Although doctors told his family he only had a 2% chance of waking up, they remained determined that Terry Wallis would one day wake up.
Although his speech is slurred and he has little muscle control, Terry is a live miracle. I thought this story was definitely worth sharing. I couldn’t imagine going through something like this and I think it’s amazing that Terry’s family stood beside him during all these years.
Terry’s story is truly remarkable. Do your part in helping out Terry and his family by donating here: http://www.theterrywallisfund.org/
When I first saw the title for this post I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. You always hear that when people go into a coma that it’s very unlikely that they will ever wake-up or even fully recover if they do wake-up. It is truly a miracle that this man even woke up. I bet that his family is so delighted that he woke up after being in a coma for nineteen years. I don’t know how his family was able to stay strong for that many years of being in a coma. After reading this story it’s hard for anyone not to believe in miracles.
Wow, this is truly a miracle. The fact that his family waited all of those years and kept faith the entire time… I can’t imagine how emotionally draining that must have been. Although it seems they still have a long road ahead of them. Can you imagine forgetting how to do simple things such as brushing your teeth, making your bed, riding a bike? He is going to have to re-learn how to do all of this all over again. Not to mention the physical rehabilitation that is ahead of him as well. This is a remarkable story.
